Decoy Effect

« Back to Glossary Index

A psychological phenomenon in which customers tend to choose two options, when presented with a third choice that is “asymmetrically dominated,” or, simply stated, not as good as the other options.

When the asymmetrically dominated option is shown, it acts as a “decoy,” pushing customers to choose the between the better two options.
