Test Details:

Optimizely the popular A/B testing and experimentation platform, conducted this interesting image study in-house, on their own site, using their own testing platform.

Background:

While undergoing a website redesign, Optimizely decided to test an important image element. They wanted to definitively determine if it was it better to feature logos of well known companies, or the people working at these companies

Hypothesis:

The testing team speculated featuring actual photos of the real people using the Optimizely platform would increase case study clickthrough rates (CTR) — since some eye tracking research shows users are highly responsive to pictures of real people.

As a result, it was suspected visitors would identify more with the pictures of individuals, as opposed to just the company logos.

However, not wanting to take this assumption for granted, they decided to test. And, good thing they did!
