Test Details & Background:

Kaizen Platform is a digital marketing platform focused on optimizing customer experience. The Kaizen testing team conducted this gamified A/B test on behalf of their client, Atrae, which runs the IT-oriented Japanese job board, Green.

Looking to increase job applicant submissions, the team wondered which would perform better: a straight-forward sign-up form, or a fun, gamified “choose your own adventure” sign-up form.

Hypothesis:

The testing team suspected the playful, gamified “choose your own adventure” graphic style would reduce hesitation because it would provide a visual walk through of the sign-up process. As a result, it would convert better than the standard plain jane form.

However, the team also acknowledged the gamified dropdown menu format might be too confusing, or too different to effectively serve it’s purpose as a sign-up form.

So, the team decided to put the forms to the test.
