Winner: Version B

RedEye Optimisation, a customer experience optimisation agency, conducted this stunning search box test for their client, Super Break, a UK-based travel getaway site.

Looking at the best search box format, the testing team found the single line search box was the overall winner — especially later in the funnel.

Interestingly, the winning design actually decreased search panel CTA clicks by -13.43%, compared to the original multi line search box.

However, with the single line search box, homepage navigation/engagement increased 15.3%.

As a result, the single line search style led to a 7.2% in overall bookings, causing revenue to increase 1.08%.

Results achieved 99% confidence.

Why would a drop in search panel clicks lead to conversion gains everywhere else?
